Kitchen ideas

I think that I would be happy with Martha Stewart’s Seal Harbor kitchen that can be bought at Home Depot.  I would just add a double oven and a double door stainless steel refrigerator and stainless steel dish washer.

I would also add a little wine cooler in there somewhere.

I love that corner pantry door idea.

I love the above idea for inside the pantry.  A place for cookbooks is so neat.  I have little chalkboard labels for my containers in my pantry that I got at King Arthur Flour.  And I have a long shelf for my cookbooks.

I love the above idea for putting the wine cooler and I would make a coffee station there, also.  I could fit it into a smaller space with only one cooler and the chalk board not as wide.

I like the cathedral ceiling idea but only have the shiplap in the ceiling with the open beams, not everywhere on the backsplash and walls.  I like the floor.

I saw the above kitchen that was in a condo over in Wolfeboro, NH.  I don’t like the shape of the cabinets, but I like the triangle window above the corner and I love the glass door cabinets.  I also like the wine bottle holder and the rack for spices next to the stove.

wolfeboro 2

Something about the kitchen just seemed neat to me.  The condo was on a lake so was basically a lake house.

Wolfboro 3

Views from the deck.

Wolfboro 8

Beautiful area.

I like a breakfast nook with a window seat on one side.  I love the above table and chairs and the corner windows.

All the corner nook needs is the above chandelier.

I saw an article on Ina Garten’s favorite cookbooks.  I printed out the list because I really like the Barefoot Contessa’s style of cooking.  I have a lot of Ina’s cookbooks that she wrote and my favorite of her books is the Paris cookbook.

Ina Garten’s Favorite Cookbooks are as follows:

The New York Times Cookbook by Craig Claiborne

The Silver Palate Cookbook by Julee Rosso & Sheila Lukins

Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child, vol. 1 & 2

Italian Cooking by Ruth Rodgers & Rose Gray

The Loaves & Fishes Cookbook by Anna Pump

Cold Weather Cooking by Sarah Leah Chase

Bistro Cooking by Patricia Wells

The Union Square Cookbook by Danny Meyer & Michael Romano

I think that the Barefoot Contessa gets a lot of inspirations from her cookbooks.  She must have a ton of cookbooks and I liked finding a list of her favorites.  I also like how she says that has a few basic recipes that she has perfected and uses them a lot in her cooking.

I like the style of the above screen door.

I’ve loved to cook ever since I was  a little kid and had to take cooking and sewing in junior high school.  It always just fascinated me.  Then my senior year in high school I had to take fashion and fabrics and loved that also.

The cooking channel on TV is just enjoyable to watch.  Especially on Saturday mornings when they have new programs.

And that’s my thoughts for today.

Tea Ideas

I get inspiration for Tea ideas from all kinds of sources.  I don’t get to go to fancy tea rooms but it’s on my bucket list.  The above is the inspiration that the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drumand got for a tea party for her and her daughter on their ranch in Oklahoma that was on her TV show. She went to New York City after going to QVC in Pennsylvania for selling one of her cookbooks and their Hotel room wasn’t ready when they drove to New York, so they decided to have high tea.  The fancy tea was so fun that they wanted to create their own version of the tea at home.

So she made Garden Spread Finger sandwiches from her own recipe that she shared and was on the food network website.  It had one review and was rated 5 stars.  She used thin sliced wheat bread and made a double layer sliced in triangles on her TV show.  I pinned the recipe on my Tea ideas.

Then she made Ham and Leek mini Quiche with sour cream and chives on top.  I liked the fancy 3-tier rose patterned holder that she had.  She also had a fancy tea-pot to match only she put hot chocolate in it.  I think I would rather have Earl Grey tea or something in the Teapot myself.  She made a few other things, but those are the two recipes I liked and pinned on my Pinterest tea ideas.

Then the mini bunt cakes with the lemon curd in the center from Nancy, the farmhouse rules lady’s tea party were an inspiration.  I pinned that recipe on my tea ideas Pinterest board.

Tea sandwiches are so lady like and just plain fun.  I’ve collected a ton of recipes.

Then the Food network’s Giada had a tea party called “not your grandmother’s tea party” that had a Spritzer with lemon-lavender tea, gin and vanilla club soda.  Then she put sprigs of lavender in it.

Giada made open face tuna tea sandwiches with white bean spread that she put on an English muffin and I pinned that recipe on my Pinterest from the food network website.  But I have a ton of recipes for open face sandwiches that are an inspiration to me.

I like pretty tea cups.

I like Royal Albert Country Roses tea set pattern.  I have that tea-pot which I love.

Every proper tea party I have read about always has an egg salad sandwich and a cucumber sandwich in the mix.

I love Peppermint tea and also Earl Grey tea the best.

And then some Chocolate Madeleines would be a must have.

Macarons with maybe Strawberry flavor.

As well as Chocolate with chocolate ganache.

I think that it would be so fun to dress for the occasion.

Have beautiful fresh flowers.  I like the Pink Peonies with the blue mason jar idea.

I could go on and on, but those are a few of my favorite inspirations for tea ideas.

Vintage ideas

I really like the aqua damask pillow shams and the white monogram pillow idea.  You can buy the set on Etsy for $79.00.  I have a sewing machine that does embroidery monograms and the pillow shams would be easy to make.  I think that it would be fun to make a set like this.  I have a white down filled comforter and these colors would look good with that.  I think that it would be probably at most about $20.00 to make if I could find aqua damask material and the aqua thread for the monogram.  Maybe a little more at today’s prices.

I like linens like the above.  Easy to crochet but time consuming.

I’ve seen antique sewing machine tables like the above that could be refinished to look like this one.  I love the carving on the drawers and the contrast color with the white.  I would like one like that for a sewing room table.

Cute saying.

I like the above quilt pattern.  It’s vintage looking.  With a sewing machine, you could put that together quite easily.  I like the colors.  I saw it on Pinterest but could not find the pattern.

I also like the above French vintage style pillow cases.  Very easy to copy making a monogram with the sewing machine and sewing on some lace to a nice white pillow case.  On Etsy, the above pillow cases with only one pair available is $92.00.  I mean a satin stitched monogram with a few French knots and lace sewn on with a cross stitch.

Le Creuset came out with a new color called Pine.  It’s an old Staub color and they brought it back for a short time.  I love the gold knob  on it.

main_variation_Default_view_1_425x425- (2)

I like Jacque Pepin’s past dishes that are on Sur la table.  They would be something that would be treasured for generations.

main_variation_Default_view_1_425x425- (1)

Love the menue baking dish from Jacque Pepin.

The Rooster bowl for French Onion soup.  So cute.

I love French toast.  King Arthur Flour has a recipe for French toast that has eggs, nutmeg, cream, vanilla and rum in it.  It’s a 5 star recipe and that tells you that it is foolproof and a good recipe.  I saved the recipe on my King Arthur Pinterest board and also printed out the recipe.  With real maple syrup and melted butter, it reminds me of the French toast my Mom used to make.

My son was in Canada one time and asked for French toast, saying it in what he thought was the French language.   They just brought him regular toast with butter.  I think French toast the way we make it is an American thing, maybe.

There is nothing more vintage then Lauduree in Paris.  Wow, to have a macaron from that place.  I’ve heard that they have a place in New York City. also.

King Arthur Flour is having a bakers’ conference in their Norwich location in September.  I would love, love, love to go to that one.  It sounds like pure enjoyment to me.

King Arthur

Real Chefs giving you all kinds of the latest and greatest techniques and it ends with a pizza party with pizza baked in one of those pizza ovens.

And that’s my thoughts for today.

Fun Adventures

July garden

I love how creative people can be. Pressed flowers on note paper is just beautiful.
There is a lady that has a blog in Vermont that makes all kinds of creative things from pressed flowers.

pressed flower 5

Beautiful ideas.

pressed flowers 3

And they do bookmarks with the pressed flowers.  So pretty.

pressed flower

I like all the Bed and Breakfasts and Country Inns that are in Vermont.  I like to get recipes from some of them.  And I also love to see the decor that they have and their gardens.

It’s fun to see the little garden paths and creative ideas that people have.

Beautiful spaces.

Awesome views and relaxing atmosphere.

I like the above idea for a table setting.  It’s simple, yet cheerful and love the color combinations.

The colors and designs of the rooms are just awesome.
They just like to make you feel at home and comfortable.

Little touches just make your stay delightful.

I remember one adventure that we went on and we stayed at a bed and breakfast in northern Vermont and then crossed over to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  They packed us some scones, muffins and coffeecake to take with us to enjoy on our way.

And a really nice breakfast there.

On the way across, we saw a moose.

canon 2

The Cannon Mountain tramway is really fun and the views are just awesome.

canon 4

You go up 4000 feet or so.

canon 5

And you have a birds eye view of the area of the White Mountains.

canon 6

At the top, you can enjoy the views and there are all kinds of hiking trails to explore.

canon 8

New Hampshire is really beautiful.

canon 7

Love it.

There used to be the Old Man of the Mountain that was a naturally formed granite ledge.  We saw that many times before it was fallen.

canon 3

It fell years ago.  Very sad as it was so awesome to see.

Back in Vermont, there are lots of wild flowers that are so pretty.

If you are from New England, you have got to love Boston Cream Pie.  I can remember when my Mom used to make that.

I always love the waterfalls along the way.

Beautiful views.  Everything is so green.

Love the colorful lillies.

I love the sunny color of the above Inn.  And then the blue and yellow table cloths.  Beautiful sun porch.

Love a relaxing fire pit.

And that’s my idea of a fun adventure. 🙂

Middle August

Tubing in

It’s fun to see the tubes going down the White River.  Looks like it would be fun to try that.

Nice cool ride down the river.  You get the tubes and then at then at the end of the ride, which is miles, there is someone to pick you up and bring you back to where your car is.

I think that it would be fun to have a garden and then share the veggies in a little farm stand on the honor system.  I like how the above farm stand has a little cooler for lettuce and pies.

I like the sign on the side of the farm stand.

It would be fun to have like Blackberry Pies.

key lime

Maybe a key lime pie in a mason jar.

I like the butter and sugar corn.  It’s so sweet.  1bb3878f63a31fba94d87fe5f0aa3c59

They used to have a farm stand in Woodstock that was on the Queechee road that had grilled corn on the cob that was just delicious.  They had a grill outside that was going and they roasted the corn in it’s wrappers.  Sooooo good.

I love the above idea to have home made chocolate chip cookies in those little packages.  The two sided farmers market paper is no longer available.  But there is other designer paper available that is almost as good.  I like the sweet treats idea for a little sticker to put on the packages.

The Farmers Market paper is impossible to get.  It has been retired.

But there is a two sided Stampin’ Up paper that is available that is almost as neat.

I love the idea of home made bread.

I saw a neat recipe for Pad Thai Zucchini noodle and Quinoa Salad that sounded really good.  I pinned the recipe on my salads board on my Pinterest.

I love oven roasted veggies.

Also Quinoa, Kale, Egg, Avocado breakfast Buddha bowl sounds good.

I just love Gladiolas.  This is the time of year that you see them in bloom.

I like the above Farmers Market poster.

I like the above quick and easy hairstyle.  Put on a sun dress and you are ready to go.

I like Hummus and it is so good for you.  I like all the above ideas to make your own hummus.

I like to go to Farmers Markets and I think the above bag would be fun to have.

And that’s my thoughts for today.

Sunday, August 14, 2016

I had lunch with my youngest son at the Food Co-op in Keene today.  We had Hummus wraps and the salad bar.  They make their own hummus and the wraps are really good.  I put the car in cruise, turned on the radio and enjoyed an ice coffee on the way down to Keene.  Alison’s Orchards has juicy peaches and I was going to stop on my way back.  Thought twice about it when I saw the dust flying on the dirt road that that goes up to the orchards and I didn’t want to get the dust all over my car and didn’t stop.

My son showed me the gym that he goes to every morning.  The membership is $600.00 a year and the place where he works pays the membership.  Pretty nice.  He showed me a field where he sees deer every morning on the way to the gym which is only about 7 minutes from his house.

The gym has an indoor pool which is nice.

The gym has a climbing wall and a cafe.

They have an indoor track, a basketball court as well as a raquetball court..

It has all kinds of exercise machines as well as a weight room. Plus yoga and aerobic classes.

My son is really into fitness and the desk that he has at his accounting job is one that can be used standing up if he wants.  He is full of fun and makes me laugh with his stories when I visit.

I stopped at Pete’s on my way back and got a ton of veggies and some blueberries.  I really like their cherry tomatoes for salads.

Their corn is really good, also.

Then I stopped at the Vermont Country store and got some cheddar cheese that they cut from a big cheese wheel.  That cheese just melts in your mouth.  It’s really, really good.

Instead of coming back on Int 91, I took the country road route back.  So pretty.

I really like the plants that the huge grocery stores in Keene have.  I couldn’t resist an African Violet for only $2.50.

A really fun Sunday.

Saturday, August 13, 2016

King Arthur Flour had a recipe that came in my E-mail for Vermont Whole Wheat Honey Bread that sounded really good.

There was also a recipe for Baked Cinnamon English Muffins.  Both of the recipes are on the King Arthur Flour website.

King Arthur Flour also had all the essential tools and ingredients from crocks to fresh starters for making Sourdough bread.

I like Barefoot Contessa’s idea for a bread drawer in the kitchen cabinet.

I also like Barefoot Contessa’s idea for pull out drawers for pots and pans.  The pots and pans are right there when you need them easy to get and yet out of the way as they take up a lot of space.

The design for the kitchen that Barefoot Contessa has was kitchen of the year, the year that it was built.

I like how she has potted herbs to use in her cooking.  The only thing that I don’t like about Barefoot Contessa recipes from her books are that the ingredients are expensive and there are a lot of ingredients in most of her recipes.

mustard seed

I like the above bookmark.  It says, “If you have the faith as small as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to the mountain, “MOVE” and it WILL move….. and NOTHING will be impossible for YOU.  Mathew 17:20″

I saw a program on TV that had a Dr. Fuhrman on that wrote the book “Eat to Live”.  He said that the body can heal itself if you feed it the right foods.  The above grilled salmon with all the veggies is an example of the kind of clean eating that he suggested.  I had high blood pressure and tried going without salt, sugar, oils and white flour.  I tried it for 6 weeks plus exercise every day and my blood pressure is now better then what is normal for my age.  I was told that I would have to take blood pressure pills after being sent to the emergency room for blood pressure that was scary high about 2 months ago.  I did not want to get stuck on pills and that diet worked for me.

On Etsy someone did a secretary desk over and I like the style of it.  It sold really fast but I like the color they came up with for the desk.  It really brings out the carving of the wood.

And that’s my thoughts for today.

Friday, August 12, 2016

I love Barefoot Contessa’s August garden.  I just love how she has her summer flowers separated by hedges all so neat.  It looks just beautiful.

I just love Pistoulet and I couldn’t resist the little soup crock.  It came in my mail yesterday.  I love it.

salad plates

Then I got the 4 cute Pistoulet salad plates.  They are just everything that I like.

I like Farmers Market recipes and I saw a recipe for a Dinner Frittata that sounded really good to me.

Then I saw a Farmers Market Breakfast Taco recipe that had cheesy scrambled eggs, maple glazed bacon, fresh herbs and a balsamic glaze that sounded really good.

Then I saw a one pot Farmers Market Pasta that sounded really good.  All the recipes are on my Farmers Market Recipes board on my Pinterest.

Blueberry Lemon Bread sounded really good to me, also.  I found that recipe on my own Farmers Market recipe board.

Also Zucchini and Green Chili Corn Bread sounded good.  Right now zucchini is plentiful and very inexpensive at the Farmers Market.

I love tomatoes from the Farmers Market.  A really yummy sandwich is the California Grilled Cheese.  It has avocado mashed, California style multigrain bread, mayonnaise, sliced tomato and shredded Pepper Jack cheese.

And then the Pico De Gallo.  Love it.

It’s always fun to have a Spa Day at home.  I love all the ideas that are out there.

I love the waterfall foot spa that you can get from  the Walmart website.

You can do a nice manicure as well as a pedicure.

I love the Epsom bath soak that is so good for your health.

And Avon bubble bath is so awesome.

I like Avon Planet Spa Shea butter.  Such an inexpensive, yet luxurious treat.

spa towel

I love how they fold Spa towels.  It’s just like being at an expensive Spa.

spa fold 1

spa fold 2

I like the Spa candles that Avon has.

I like the deals that Avon has.  What a fun splurge.

I guess that every once in awhile you really have to be good to yourself.  I have fun.  I don’t always get everything I want but a little splurge every once in awhile makes for a relief of the stress of every day life.

All things French

Because I like all things French, the above wine, cheese and baguette makes for a “happy meal”.  Love it.

I love blue and white and the above French style chair is everything I love.

desk 2

When I was a kid, I had an antique French style desk in my room.  I always liked that desk.  The above roll top desk is sort of like it.  Mine was a natural color brown.  But I liked the style of it.  I like the white with the light blue interior even better.  I really like that desk.

Wayfair has one that is not an antique, but has the style of an antique.
And it is affordable.  I love.  It could easily be painted light blue in the interior.  And the knobs could easily be changed.

I love the above little French style clock.  Goes perfect with a French style desk.

I noticed that when Ina Garten or the Barefoot Contessa had her barn kitchen designed that she went for the open shelves look and white dishes.  That is so much the French style.  I love it.

I have a madeline pan to make madelines and was looking up a raspberry madeline recipe on my pinterest.  The recipe was deleted because of a copyright.
Darn.  I should have gotten the recipe when I could have because it was a secret recipe from a French cafe.  Have to find another recipe.

I also want to make macarons and Sur la table has a special kit so that you can make them come out just right.

I found a recipe for French Onion soup, the way Julia made it sort of.  The recipe has Gruyere cheese and instead of a slice of French bread, the recipe has cut up French bread to make it easier to eat.  It also has white wine and a little brandy in it.  I love French onion soup.  I have that recipe on my all things French board on my Pinterest.  I printed the recipe out today just to save it.

I also found a recipe for French Farmhouse Soup simplified.  I love it because it has lots of  the flavor and it’s easy to make.  I printed that recipe out, also.

I like the above Chanel phone case with pearls.

I worked for a construction company as a secretary at one time.  At Christmas time, one of their sub- contractors gave everyone in the office a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne.  I couldn’t believe it.  It costs about $150.00 a bottle.   I treasured it.  What a nice gift.

I’m not French.  Except my Mom grew up close to the Canadian border and her Dad was Canadian French.  So I have a little Canadian French in me.  For some reason, I am attracted to all things French.  I even picked up the language easy.  I can understand what they say.  Mostly I love their style.

My Grandmother was total English and my other Grandmother was total Irish.  So I have a little of everything in me.  Somehow, I like all kinds of styles.

Wednesday, August 10, 2016

I think that it would be really fun to have a cottage by the sea.  Be able to spend weekends and vacations there in the summer.  Even nicer would be to be retired and spend the summers in the cottage and the winters in North Carolina.

It wouldn’t have to be fancy.  Just a place to enjoy the outdoors.

A picket fence with climbing roses would be so pretty.

I like the color of the above cottage kitchen and the window seat.  Little grandkids could keep you company while you are cooking as well as adults.

I like Claire Murray rugs and I think the above rug would look so cute in the kitchen by the sink.

I like the Claire Murray cat boat needlepoint pillow.

And I like blue Hydrangas.  The Claire Murray blue Hydranga rugs are simply pretty.

I like all the Claire Murray rugs.

The Village Claire Murray rug is just beautiful.  I like how it has lattice work around the edge and it looks like blue Morning Glories along the lattice.

I would love to have blue Hydranga bushes that I could pick Hydrangas and put them in mason jars in the window.

I love the above Claire Murray rug.  That one would also look good next to the kitchen sink.

I like the looks of a clothesline with a sea-breeze drying the linens.

I like the above chandelier to have in the dining room.

I love the sound of waves when they come up on the shore.

And that’s my thoughts for today.
